Colorfabb LW-ASA

1.75mm 650g

After printing, LW-ASA Black will become slightly lighter in its black shade. When the material is foamed, the surface will also become matte, giving it a very professional appearance. Due to LW-ASA's higher temperature resistance, you don't need to worry about heat absorption.

Properties

  • Lightweight material
  • UV-resistant
  • High temperature resistance

LW-ASA material can increase its volume by almost 2.5 times. The filament's density is around 1.07 g/cm³, but when foamed to maximum capacity, a part density of approximately 0.43 g/cm³ can be achieved.

LW-ASA is more prone to warping compared to LW-PLA filament. Especially models with a large base can shrink and deform during printing, but generally, it is less pronounced than with ABS.

Please note that color variations may occur. The color becomes lighter when the material is fully foamed, compared to its unfoamed state, which appears with a deeper and richer color.

In addition to using a large brim and a heated build plate at 90–100 °C (or higher if your machine allows it), we also recommend the following: Print a high skirt around the model to reduce cold air around the print, or print in an enclosed chamber for better control of the ambient temperature.

Print tips

At colorFabb, they have a well-equipped 3D printing studio with many popular 3D printers. Their ASA quality has been tested on various 3D printers.

LW-ASA is more prone to warping compared to PLA or PETG filaments. Especially models with a large base can shrink and deform during printing, but in most cases, it is less pronounced than with ABS.

In addition to using a large brim and a heated build plate at 90–100 °C (or higher if your machine allows it), we also recommend the following: Print a high skirt around your model to reduce cold air around the print, or print in an enclosed chamber for better control of the ambient temperature.

Recommended 3D printing temperature
240–260 °C

Recommended print speed
30–50 mm/s

Recommended heated bed
90–100 °C

Cooling fan
To reduce warping, we recommend using as little cooling as possible. For the best mechanical performance, you should also print with minimal cooling to achieve optimal layer adhesion.
