Why you might need 3D markers
When scanning objects with uniform surfaces, such as plastic enclosures, metal parts, smooth products, or reflective materials, traditional 3D scanning can struggle to follow the form. The scanner needs stable reference points to understand the object's geometry over time. Revopoint 3D Markers provide a dense pattern of contrast points that the scanner can register image by image, thus improving tracking and accuracy.
Markers are especially useful when an object lacks natural details like edges, patterns, or texture, as they help avoid deviations, misalignments, or missing areas in the 3D model.
What's included and how they work
The pack contains 500 self-adhesive marker points. For medium and large objects, 3mm markers are used, placed in an irregular pattern. The distance between markers should be around 6 to 8 cm, and at least five markers must be visible in the scanner's field of view throughout the entire scan.
Once applied, the markers act as clear reference points, helping the scanner to track movement and orientation. This provides better stability, more precise point cloud data, and improved mesh reconstruction, even on smooth or reflective surfaces.
After scanning, the markers can be removed without leaving residue, making them a practical and temporary solution for scanning.
Best application areas
- Scanning large or medium-sized products, machine parts, or metal components.
- Capturing geometry on smooth or reflective surfaces without natural texture.
- Projects requiring high stability and accuracy, such as reverse engineering, quality control, or archiving.
- Situations where a quick, simple, and removable scanning aid is needed.
