Multi-material printing with less waste

The Vortek System uses up to six interchangeable induction-heated hotends to achieve true multi-material printing with significantly reduced purge waste compared to single-nozzle systems. The hotend replacement mechanism eliminates purge flushing during filament changes (H2C under 7 filaments), saving both material and time.

Fast and precise induction heating

The Vortek Induction Hotend quickly heats the nozzle to print temperature in approximately 8 seconds (PLA). This rapid response shortens color change transitions and further reduces purge waste. Integrated protection against overheating, overvoltage, short circuits, and open circuits ensures reliable performance during continuous multi-material workflows.

Reliable contactless connection

Instead of contact-based metal pins — which can oxidize and degrade over time — the Vortek System uses a contactless high-frequency power and signal interface. This provides a stable and long-lasting connection for precise temperature control and synchronized hotend operation.

Monitoring of heatsink overheating

Dual temperature sensors monitor both nozzle and heatsink temperatures in real-time. When the heatsink temperature exceeds safe limits, the system automatically increases cooling to prevent heat creep and reduce the risk of clogging.

Intelligent multi-hotend management

Each Vortek Hotend stores its filament information locally, ensuring correct material assignment and preventing loading errors. When printing with more than seven filament types, the system intelligently optimizes hotend assignment to minimize purge waste and improve overall efficiency.

Compatibility notes - Read more on Bambu Lab Wiki

  1. For single-color printing, the Fixed Hotend (Induction Hotend) is recommended.
  2. For multi-color printing with AMS, the AMS must be connected to the right Fixed Hotend.
  3. For support material, the Liftable Hotend is recommended for the secondary nozzle.
  4. TPU85A is only supported on the right Fixed Hotend. TPU95A HF / 90A is expected to be supported on the left Liftable Hotend from firmware U2.
  5. PET-CF / PPA-CF / PPS-CF are only supported on the left Liftable Hotend.
  6. CF/GF-reinforced filaments are not compatible with stainless steel nozzles.
