Colorfabb PA Blue Metal Detectable

1.75mm 750g

Highlights:

  • Metal detectable

  • Complies with EU regulations for food contact

  • Signature blue color

  • PA-based – yields strong and durable parts.

  • Filament must be dry before printing.

  • More sensitive to warping/shrinkage compared to PLA.

  • Tolerance: ± 0.1 mm

To assist the food industry with the best possible 3D printing filament, we have developed a blue polyamide that is also metal detectable.

Visual contrast is crucial. Blue is chosen as a common color for plastic materials in the food industry because it provides high visual contrast with most food products. This makes it easier for staff and vision systems to detect any plastic fragments that might accidentally contaminate the food during processing.

Furthermore, our filament is metal detectable to minimize the risk of product contamination. Any plastic fragments that might accidentally contaminate the food during processing can subsequently be detected with metal detectors.

Disclaimer:
Please note that the metal particles integrated into the product are designed to be detected by specialized metal detection equipment used in the food industry. Common household magnets or simple metal detectors may not reliably detect these particles. Our materials are optimized for advanced metal detection systems such as electromagnetic induction and X-ray inspection. For proper detection, we recommend using appropriate equipment developed for food processing environments.

Compliance with food safety requirements
Our raw material for the compound is approved for food contact according to: Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 concerning specific measures for material types – in this case, plastic – in the form of Regulation (EU) No 10/2011.

In addition, the product complies with Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 (Articles 5, 6, and 7). The product's components and monomers are listed in Regulation (EU) No 10/2011, with subsequent amendments.

The suitability of the finished item for its intended use (food contact) must be verified by the manufacturer or distributor of the 3D-printed parts.

Overall, the use of blue color and metal detectability in 3D printing filaments for the food industry is a proactive approach to preventing, detecting, and limiting potential product contamination. These characteristics contribute to maintaining high standards of food safety, protecting consumer health, and ensuring the integrity of food production processes.

Print guide from Colorfabb

ColorFabb has a well-equipped 3D printing studio with many popular 3D printers. We know that our materials can yield excellent results, and to help you achieve these results, we have compiled the following tips and recommendations for using colorFabb 3D printing filament.

Recommended print temperature
265–290 ℃

Recommended print speed
30–40 mm/s

Recommended heated build plate
Room temperature – 50 ℃

When using a heated glass build plate, we recommend 3DLac for extra adhesion.

Build platform / cooling
0% fan cooling is recommended for best possible layer-to-layer adhesion.
If geometry requires cooling, a maximum of 50% normal fan speed is recommended.

It is recommended to keep the spool as dry as possible both during and after use. The material can be dried at 100–110 ℃ for 3–6 hours.
After production, the spools are packed in a resealable aluminum vacuum bag to ensure optimal protection against moisture.
