Class 4 vs. Class 1
Both the P2S Class 4 and P2S Class 1 use the same powerful 55W CO₂ laser. The crucial difference lies in the safety design and how the laser beam is handled during operation:
- P2S Class 4 – The laser beam is not fully enclosed. When the lid is open or the base plate is removed during operation, diffused laser radiation can escape. This version therefore requires strict safety measures such as protective eyewear, restricted access, and controlled environments. It offers more flexibility for certain workflows but leaves the responsibility for safety to the user.
- P2S Class 1 – Although equipped with the same laser, this version is fully enclosed with a sealed cabinet and safety interlocks on the lid and base plate. If the lid is opened or the base plate is removed, the laser automatically stops. This ensures no laser radiation escapes during normal use, making it safe for use in classrooms, offices, and shared environments without the need for protective eyewear.
In short: Class 4 delivers the same cutting and engraving performance as Class 1, but with an open design that requires stricter safety measures and controlled operating conditions.
