Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro - Automatic Material System

Product features

  • Active air ventilation at 65 °C for drying filament

  • Airtight storage of filament

  • Up to 24-color/multi-material printing

  • Brushless servo motor for filament feeding

  • RFID synchronization of filament

  • Compatibility between AMS 2 Pro and A1/A1 mini printers will be added via an OTA update in October 2025.

  • AMS 2 Pro is compatible with X1/P1 series printers for multi-material printing.

For X1/P1 owners, a switch adapter is required to power the drying function. Since filament drying typically takes a long time, there is rarely a need to have multiple adapters running simultaneously. The optional adapter helps keep the price down.

For H2D owners, your H2D can power any of the connected AMS 2 Pro units while drying. Therefore, if you do not plan to run multiple AMS 2 Pro units for drying at the same time, you do not need an adapter.

For X1E owners, the drying feature on AMS 2 Pro is currently under testing and not yet supported.

The X1 series and P1 series are compatible with AMS 2 Pro .

If you are only using the automatic filament feed function, only the 6-pin bus cable , 4-pin bus cable , Filament Buffer/AMS Hub , PTFE tubing , and PTFE tubing connector are required – no external power supply is required.

However, if you want to use the drying function , an external power supply must be used for the AMS 2 Pro.

For the AMS 2 Pro's drying function, you must use the official power supply from Bambu Lab . Product damage caused by third-party adapters is not covered by the warranty .

Bamboo Lab AMS 2 Pro

AMS, Evolved.

24 colors / Multi-material
Connect up to 4 AMS 2 Pro and 8 AMS HT units in series – a total of 24 filaments .

Electromagnetic air valve
Fast drying of filament and airtight storage.

65°C drying
Up to 65°C drying temperature .

Brushless motor
Up to 60% faster feed rate .

Dry filament quickly and intelligently

Electromagnetic air valve
Automatic venting promotes dehumidification during drying and ensures an airtight seal for weeks for high-quality prints.

Automatic rotation during drying
During the drying process, the filament spools rotate automatically to ensure more even drying.

RFID synchronization
AMS 2 Pro uses RFID to automatically match drying settings to official Bambu filaments – no manual input required.

Give it a go! Faster multi-material printing!

Powerful Bambu servo motor with permanent magnets
The powerful synchronous servo motor with permanent magnets from Bambu increases filament feed by 60% , providing higher efficiency .

Saves an average of 10 minutes per 100 filament changes .

Improved and refined design

Tool-free access to filament tube
In the first generation of AMS, removing broken filament required taking out all the spools and disassembling the housing with two screws – a process that took 3–5 minutes.
With the AMS 2 Pro, on the other hand, you get direct, tool-free access to the filament tubes from the top.

Ceramic inlet
The Ceramic filament inlets have a Vickers hardness of 1200, which significantly improves durability.

Compatible with all Bambu Lab printers

AMS 2 Pro will be compatible with all products from Bambu Lab .

FAQ - Explore more about AMS 2 Pro

Is the extra power port on the AMS 2 Pro necessary?

Yes, in certain cases.
When H2D is used with a single AMS 2 Pro , all functions – including automatic feeding and drying – can be used without an external power supply .

If the H2D is used with multiple AMS 2 Pro units , and some of them are used for multi-color printing , while others are used for filament drying , the AMS 2 Pro units used for drying must be connected to external power supply .
The external power supply can be purchased in Bambu Lab's official webshop .

Can the X1 series and P1 series use AMS 2 Pro?

Yes, the X1 series and P1 series are compatible with AMS 2 Pro .

  • If you are only using the automatic filament feed feature , you will need:
6-pin bus cable , 4-pin bus cable and Filament Buffer / AMS Hubno external power supply required .

  • However, if you want to use the drying function , an external power supply is required for the AMS 2 Pro.

All necessary parts can be purchased in the upgrade kit under the AMS 2 Pro add-on section.

AMS 2 Pro is compatible with X1/P1 series printers for multi-material printing.
The drying feature for these older printers will be enabled via an OTA update before the end of Q3 .

Compatibility with A1/A1 mini will be added via OTA update in Q3 2025 .

For more information, see the Bambu Lab Wiki .

Can AMS and AMS 2 Pro be used simultaneously for printing?

Yes, you can use both AMS and AMS 2 Pro on one H2D printer .

Can I dry filament while printing?

Drying is currently not supported on AMS 2 Pro/HT devices that are actively participating in printing – including those used for automatic refilling during an ongoing print job.

The only supported situation for “dry while printing” is:
The printer uses some AMS 2 Pro/HT units (or an external spool holder) for printing, while other AMS 2 Pro/HT units that are not in use can be used for drying.

If the printer is both printing and simultaneously driving one AMS 2 Pro for drying , the drying power will automatically be reduced to prioritize power for the printer.
Therefore, it is recommended to use an external power supply for the best drying results.

Can the AMS 2 Pro be powered directly from the printer for drying?

Yes. The H2D printer can directly power one AMS 2 Pro for drying.
If you want to dry filament in multiple AMS 2 Pro units simultaneously , they require external power supplies (sold separately).

Does AMS 2 Pro support drying without connection to the printer?

No. When using the drying feature on the AMS 2 Pro, the device must be connected to the printer via a 6-pin bus cable so that the printer can be turned on and put into drying mode .

AMS 2 Pro cannot dry filament independently without connection to the printer.
