Prusament PETG 1.75mm 1kg

Prusament PETG is a high-quality filament made by Prusa Research with exceptional strength, flexibility, and ease of use. It is designed for functional parts and everyday 3D printing, combining the durability of PET with the easy printability of PLA. Each spool is carefully manufactured and tested to ensure precise diameter, consistent color, and reliable results.

Key Features

  • Produced in-house by Prusa Research with full quality control
  • ±0.02 mm diameter precision for smooth and stable extrusion
  • High strength and temperature resistance up to 90 °C
  • Excellent layer adhesion and minimal deformation
  • Easy to print with on a wide range of 3D printers
  • Available in both matte and glossy color variants
  • Recommended settings: nozzle 250 °C, print bed 80 °C

About PETG

PETG is one of the most widely used filaments. Its strength and durability make it an excellent choice for printing various mechanically stressed parts, such as different holders or clamps. Due to its excellent layer-to-layer adhesion, PETG prints are ideal for waterproof applications both indoors and outdoors. In addition, PETG is a tough material with good heat resistance. The 'G' in the abbreviation stands for a glycol-modified substance, which is included in the manufacturing process. This modifies the properties of PET, making it easier to print, less brittle, and clearer, especially when printing with semi-transparent variants.

PETG has a low thermal expansion, so even when printing large objects and without an enclosed environment, it rarely lifts from the plate and deforms. Additionally, PETG is tougher and less brittle than PLA. It has an appropriate amount of flexibility, which can prevent parts from breaking under stress. We use PETG to print parts for our own printers!

What to expect?

Prusament PETG is our own, internally produced filament. The entire production process is closely monitored and tested – we guarantee a precision of ±0.02 mm and very consistent colors. You can inspect the parameters of every single spool we have produced on prusament.com. Check the sample spool!

Manufactured in-house by Josef Prusa

We were not satisfied with the quality of filaments available on the market. Therefore, we decided to make our own! Prusa Research is the only 3D printer manufacturer with its own filament production.

Premium quality materials and thorough testing

The entire manufacturing process is monitored and tested – filament diameter, color consistency, and mechanical properties – to ensure every spool is perfect.

± 0.02 mm guaranteed manufacturing precision

We believe that the industry standard of 0.05 mm is not sufficient for perfect 3D printing. Therefore, we guarantee ±0.02 mm precision and very consistent colors in our filaments.

High quality that you can check yourself

We are the only manufacturer that allows you to inspect the parameters of each individual filament spool. Scan the QR code on the spool to see all the details online (check the sample spool).

Print setup

Nozzle: 250 ±10 °C
Heatbed: 80 ±10 °C
Recommended steel surface: Textured / Satin

Before printing, you should read our dedicated article and material table on print surface preparation.

Basic properties

Beginner tips and tricks

Unlike PLA or ABS, PETG tends to flow a little and can leave plastic threads on your print. We recommend drying the filament before printing, as described here. If stringing still occurs, you can counteract it by increasing retraction and adjusting the hotend temperature — but if you use our filament presets in PrusaSlicer, we have already done this for you, and the amount of stringing should be minimal. You can also remove the threads afterwards by briefly treating the finished print with a heat gun.

Notes

  • This PETG is manufactured in-house by Prusa Research.

  • 1.75 mm filament is produced with a precision of ±0.02 mm.

  • Before printing, ensure the heatbed surface is clean, as described in the 3D Printing Handbook.

  • If you choose a 2 kg spool, you need to download and print the holder for 2 kg spools, as it will not fit in the standard spool holder.

  • To dry the filament, follow the instructions in our article.
