Bambu Lab AMS – Innovation in 3D Printing Technology

Making Multi-Color 3D Printing a Reality
Colour, as the ultimate expression of emotion, is brought to you by Bambu Lab's Automatic Material System (AMS). With AMS, you can now enjoy the freedom to print in multiple colours and materials simultaneously.

Multi-material printing
Can be used with most materials such as PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, PC and more.

Seamless support removal
With AMS, Bambu Lab printers can use break-away support material or soluble filament, minimizing the hassle of removing supports.
No filament waste
Without AMS, printing stops when the filament runs out, and manual spool replacement often leads to filament waste.
With AMS, a seamless transition to a new spool occurs, allowing printing to continue without interruptions and minimizing waste.

Filament Backup
Your print never stops thanks to automatic spool changes. With AMS's filament backup function, you don't have to worry about running out of filament while you sleep or are away. It ensures a consistent and uninterrupted printing process, reduces filament waste, and promotes energy efficiency.

Advanced Intelligent System
Powered by a 32-bit MCU, sensors, actuators, and an intelligent algorithm, AMS has reached an unprecedented level of intelligence. The system efficiently controls filament loading and unloading, as well as error detection, handling, and recovery.
For more detailed information, please refer to the AMS feeding system.

Filament Tangle Detection
When the filament at the print head encounters resistance, it may be due to tangled filament or a stuck spool. AMS detects this instantly and pauses the print to prevent air printing.
For more detailed information, please refer to filament tangling.

Say Goodbye to Humid Filament
Filament that has absorbed moisture can lead to print quality issues, poor layer adhesion, or even nozzle clogging, potentially resulting in a failed print.

Keep Filament Dry
AMS features an airtight seal and uses desiccant to absorb moisture and keep filament dry.
A humidity sensor also detects the humidity level inside the AMS and notifies the user if the humidity level is too high or if the desiccant needs replacement.
For the best print quality, dry filament is essential.

Automatic Filament Identification
Bambu Lab filaments use RFID, which is read by AMS to automatically identify the material and apply the best settings.
RFID information is automatically synchronized with Bambu Studio.
Non-Bambu Lab filaments must be configured manually in Bambu Studio or directly on the printer.

Supports up to 16 colours
Each Bambu Lab AMS consists of 4 filament slots. Up to 4 AMS units can be installed in parallel, supporting up to 16 colours, allowing you to create impressive prints that truly stand out.
To achieve 16-colour printing, 4 AMS units must be connected via an AMS Hub.

| Gross weight | 4.68 kg |
| Material | ABS |
| Supported filament | PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, PVA (dry), BVOH (dry), PP, POM, HIPS, and Bambu PLA-CF / PAHT-CF / PETG-CF |
| Unsupported filament* | TPE, TPU, PVA (wet), BVOH (wet), Bambu PET-CF / TPU 95A, and other brands' filaments containing carbon or glass fibre |
| Filament diameter | 1.75 mm |
| Supported spool size* | Width: 50–68 mm, diameter: 197–202 mm |

Filaments that are too soft, brittle, or abrasive are not compatible with AMS, such as Bambu PET-CF / TPU 95A, TPE, PVA (wet), BVOH (wet), as well as other brands' PET-CF/GF, PA-CF/GF, PAHT-CF/GF, etc.
If you prefer to use cardboard spools, it is highly recommended to use a spool adapter to reduce the risk of the spool slipping or dirt accumulating in the AMS.
