Bambu PLA Pure
- Five ingredients – all certified for food contact in the EU
- Low emissions during indoor printing, certified according to UL GREENGUARD 2904
- Safe for children's toys, certified according to EU toy safety standard (EN 71)
Only five ingredients – all certified for food contact
Most food-contact filaments are only tested as a finished product. Bambu Lab PLA Pure, on the other hand, is tested ingredient by ingredient. From base material to color pigment, it consists of only five ingredients, and each is certified according to EU food safety requirements. This is a first in this product category – and still the only filament of its kind.

UL GREENGUARD certified – cleaner air for indoor printing
PLA Pure is certified according to UL GREENGUARD 2904, the recognized standard for 3D printer emissions. The particles and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by the material during printing are below the levels found in an average kitchen, living room, or office – cleaner than the air you already breathe.

In a 4-hour continuous printing test performed by an accredited international laboratory, PLA Pure generated lower emissions of PM2.5 and PM10 particles than a third-party PLA filament under identical conditions.*

Certified toy safety – made for little hands
PLA Pure is certified according to EN 71-3*, the EU safety standard for toy materials. The material is designed for models that are touched, held, and played with.
A play kitchen plate. A toy truck. A cat activity toy. PLA Pure is made for little hands and everyday moments at home.

Made for everyday items
Bambu PLA Pure is tested according to EU Regulation No. 10/2011, which is the EU's central regulation for plastic materials intended for food contact. This high purity makes PLA Pure suitable for the items you use most: children's toys, household utensils, and small objects that often come into contact with your hands.

Seamless printing
Fewer additives. Cleaner composition. PLA Pure not only sets a higher standard for safety – it also prints more smoothly and reliably. Reduced residue* helps minimize nozzle clogging and ensures consistent extrusion, spool after spool.

| Property | Bambu PLA Basic | Bambu PLA Pure | Third-party food-contact PLA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flexural Strength (XY) | 76 MPa | 75 MPa | 65 MPa |
| Flexural Modulus (XY) | 2750 MPa | 2880 MPa | 2687 MPa |
| Impact Strength (XY) | 26.6 kJ/m² | 20.6 kJ/m² | 20.5 kJ/m² |
| Flexural Strength (Z) | 59 MPa | 55 MPa | 45 MPa |
| Flexural Modulus (Z) | 2370 MPa | 2599 MPa | 2292 MPa |
| Layer Adhesion (impact strength, Z) | 13.8 kJ/m² | 10.0 kJ/m² | 6.5 kJ/m² |
Note: XY values indicate strength and toughness within the print layers, while Z values describe the properties across the layers (layer bonding). PLA Pure generally has mechanical properties on par with PLA Basic and better layer adhesion than the compared third-party food-contact PLA.
Cleaner formula. Proven strength.
Fewer additives doesn't mean weaker prints. PLA Pure matches Bambu PLA Basic in mechanical performance, with layer adhesion on par with most PLA on the market.
Purity and strength – without compromise.

Even without prior drying, PLA Pure produces significantly less "stringing" than typical third-party PLA. Fewer loose filament strands. Cleaner surfaces. Less residue on items you use daily.

RFID for intelligent printing
All print parameters are embedded in RFID, which can be read via our AMS (Automatic Material System).
Load. Sync. Print. No setup, no guesswork – just reliable results.

Printing Tips
1. Printing Tips
The food contact certification applies to the filament itself. The production of food-safe printed parts depends on the cleanliness of the equipment (especially the nozzle), printing environment, and other factors.
Due to layer lines, printed parts are not suitable for holding liquid foods. Due to the properties of PLA, printed parts should not be exposed to temperatures above 60°C. For detailed guidance, please refer to the PLA Pure Advanced Printing Guide on Bambu Lab Wiki.
Bambu PLA Pure is designed specifically for FDM 3D printing, focusing on both emission safety and contact safety. When used with the standard profile, it delivers excellent print quality and supports contact-safe performance. As actual application may vary depending on environment, conditions, and workflows, applications with higher contact-safety requirements should follow additional guidance.
For more details, please refer to the official Bambu Lab Wiki.
2. Accessory Compatibility
Compatible with all printers, AMS, build plates, and nozzles.
For contact-safe finished parts, it is not recommended to use Bambu Liquid Glue or Solid Glue.
(Improved adhesion to the print bed can alternatively be achieved by increasing the bed temperature.)
3. Drying Recommendations
Dry before use to ensure the best print quality and consistent finish. Store in a dry environment after use. For more details, please refer to the filament drying guide on WIKI.
4. Refill
Refill filament must be used with a spool. For detailed instructions on how to change filament using the Bambu reusable spool, see the guide on WIKI.
5. Important Notice
Although this product has passed food contact compliance tests at both raw material and print sample levels, 3D printing is a process with many variables. The quality and safety of finished prints depend on factors such as equipment, printing environment, work procedures, and post-processing.
Bambu Lab's responsibility is limited to the compliance and quality of the filament material itself. Bambu Lab makes no express or implied warranties regarding the safety, suitability, or regulatory compliance of user-generated prints for food contact.
Bambu Lab does not guarantee that such user-produced prints comply with applicable food contact regulations, standards, or certification requirements in any jurisdiction, and cannot be held liable for direct or indirect losses, claims, or liabilities arising from their use.
